MORNING OFFERINGS:
April 29, 2012 – CRWRC DRS: Disaster Response Services mission is to show God’s love and to bring hope to disaster impacted communities in North America by restoring the homes and lives of those most vulnerable. They help communities build their capacity to prepare for and recover from disasters. They provide opportunities for Christians to honour the Lord by using their time, talents, and financial resources in service to others.
May 6, 2012 – Operation Manna: Operation Manna is a program of Diaconal Ministries. It provides grants, networking and coaching to CRCs across Canada for the development of those ministries in CRC neighbourhoods.
SOMETHING2SHARE: COMMUNITY PROJECTS:
This week Saturday we are helping at Riverview Gardens from 10-11:30am doing an ice cream social. Volunteers will serve ice cream to the residents, play piano, and then wheel them back to their rooms. Don’t forget to sign up. Talk to Hetty Sluys for more information!

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
REMINDER: Next Sunday is the 1st Sunday of the month – do you know what this means? You’re right – CADET POP CAN FUNDRAISER SUNDAY. Please bring your pop cans to the church Sunday morning and we will have Cadets on hand to help you.
TECHIE PEOPLE NEEDED: We need to replace a couple of members of our audio/visual team and would love to have you join us. Training will be provided. Please contact Jeff D for more information. Thank you to Ken, Ray, and Phil who have given a lot of time in this important ministry in our church! We wish you God’s blessings!
NURSERY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Come join this great ministry and spend time with the youngest members of our congregation! We are in need of youth and adult volunteers for both am and pm worship services. This is an easy job to do and it is really appreciated! Talk to Jolene, Natalie, or Christina if you can help us out!
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL 2012 (July 9-13): Please let us know by April 30 how you can help out this year. There is a signup sheet on the table in the narthex. FOOD DONATIONS NEEDED: It is important to give food to the poor in our community not only on special holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, but throughout the year. We would like to encourage each of you to bring non-perishable food items to the church each month. There is a bin underneath the mail slots that we would like to fill up each month and bring to one of the local food banks: Salvation Army, Outreach for Hunger, and Praise Fellowship. Please help us by bringing non-perishable food items to the church this upcoming Sunday. Let’s make a difference in the lives of those around us!
LIBRARY NEWS: Two new non-fiction books were added to the Library.
Gary Chapman’s “The 5 Love Languages”. How do we meet each other’s deep emotional need to feel loved? Dr. Timothy Paul Jones takes the words of Jesus seriously, all of them, including the ones about the end. You will be blessed reading “End-Times Prophecy”.
New Members/Profession of Faith Class: Interested in learning more about the beliefs and teaching of Grace CRC and the denomination of the Christian Reformed Church? Want to know more about becoming a member of Grace CRC? Are you considering making a public profession of your faith? Pastor William and Pastor Jake invite you to join us for a six week class starting the beginning of June. Together we will explore what it means to be Reformed and why it matters. Please contact Pastor Jake if you are interested in attending.
CONGREGATIONAL MEETING REPORT FROM APRIL 25, 2012:
Ø the minutes from the November 30, 2011 congregation meeting were approved
Ø Pastor Jake gave a youth ministry update
Ø The auditors report and financial statements for 2011 were approved.
Ø The auditors report and deacon financial statements for 2011 were approved.
Ø Jeff D was approved to replace Myrna as auditor for a 2 year term.
Ø The Annual Ministry Report Booklet was presented.
Ø The building proposal was presented with a motion for approval. Discussion followed. The general feeling of the congregation was positive towards the current proposed plan. At this time we would like to thank the Facility Enhancement Committee for all of their work done to this point. There were a couple of items raised by the members which need clarification and this will be brought to Council immediately to deal with and will come back to the congregation as soon as possible for a vote on this proposal.
YOUNG ADULTS:
Back from University or College? Come join the Young Adults group! We are meeting this Tuesday at Pastor Jake's starting at 7:30. All young adults aged 19ish-to-30something are invited to join one of the following discussion groups: Group 1 will be reading The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. Group A will be reading Crazy Love by Francis Chan.
YOUTH GROUP:
TONIGHT: 7-9pm - Our Member of Parliment, Mr. Dave VanKestern, will be speaking to us about abortion. This is the last Sunday in April to donate to Kimberly, our sponsor child. Please bring a loonie or a toonie to Youth Group tonight.
NEXT WEEK: Activity and games night at the church.
Youth Unlimited Mission Trip: A spot has opened up for the SERVE trip from July 7-14 in Woodstock. Any student entering gr.9-12 this coming September is can go. Talk to Pastor Jake if you are interested.
