PRAYER LIST

CALVARY CHURCH:  This morning we have the privilege of hosting the Gems in our church - we pray for the continued blessing of that ministry in our community! Congratulations to Theresa and her daughter Karmendy after their baptisms last weekend in our church. Mike is recovering very well in a London hospital after a bicycle accident. Dick and Margaret are vacationing in Nigeria for the next 3 weeks; we are praying for their safety.  

BLENHEIM CHURCH:  We look forward to celebrating Harry’s birthday on Saturday May 12.  We are glad that Ruby continues her recovery at home.  

FIRST CHURCH:  Please pray for and encourage our shut ins throughout this month: Tina at Riverview Gardens, Johanna at Riverview Gardens, Wendy at St. Andrews Residence, Brian at home, Tina at home, Wilhelmina at Copper Terrace Nursing Home and others who are going through difficult times. 

Happy Birthday to Mr. John who is turning 75 today, to Mrs. Tina who is turning 94 on May 8th, and to Mr. Harm who is turning 76 on the 10th.  Have a blessed day! 

GRACE CHURCH:  This past week Mary was transferred to Wallaceburg and Ellen was transferred to Windsor.  We pray for both of these women that they may receive the help they need at these facilities.  Jane as admitted to hospital this past week due to a low blood count.  We pray that the doctors may be able to find the cause of this and provide treatment.   Please pray for and encourage our shut ins throughout this month: Tina, Bea, Mary, Al, Irene, Mary, and others who are going through difficult times.

Congratulations to Kees & Reina who are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary!  What a blessing and testament to God's faithfulness!  Happy birthday to Wilma who is turning 73 on May 7th and to Henk who is turning 87 on May 12th.  Have a blessed day!

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS

30 Hour Famine:  Thank you to everyone who supported the CCHS students who participated in the 30 Hour Famine, whether that was through donations or prayer. The famine event went smoothly and was life changing for many participants. 

Participation Makes a Difference:  Using gift cards and gift certificates purchased from Chatham Christian Schools continues to generate significant funds for the school.  Use them for everyday purchases like groceries, gas and clothes.  It only takes a few minutes and it costs you nothing.  The school has been blessed with this fundraiser and we would like to thank all of those who contribute to it by simply participating.  We need your participation because it does Make a Difference.   Instant TRIP is open the usual 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. on Thursdays.  Gift cards are also available during Grandparents Day on Monday May 14, 8:30 a.m. to noon.  If you have any questions email trip@chathamchristian.ca or call Suzanne Wiersma 354-8643. 

The Chatham After 5 Mother/Daughter dinner on Tuesday, May 15 at 6:30 pm.  Contact Roseanne 519-397-2878 for details. 

The 9th annual Chatham Christian School golf tournament will be held on June 9, 2012 at Deer Run golf course. Registration is at 11:30 and a shot gun start begins at 12:30. The cost is 85$ which includes golf, cart, dinner and prizes. A 40$ tax receipt is also included. Please call the school at 352-4980 or Neil Degroot at 354-6018 to register a foursome or as an individual before June 4. Anyone wanting to may also donate a prize. They are greatly needed.

As a fundraiser, Habitat For Humanity C-K presents The Dofasco Male Chorus in concert, Monday, May 14/12, 7:30pm at St Andrew's United Church, Chatham, ON. Tickets are $15. In 1945, a group of enthusiastic men, who shared a common love of singing, formed the Dofasco Male Chorus (Hamilton, ON). Today, the 50-member-strong chorus is highly acclaimed as one of the finest male choruses throughout all of Canada with their extensive repertoire from Folk to Sacred, from Classical to Broadway.     Call Christine Schram for tickets or more info - 519-809-8483.  

CHATHAM CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS would like to invite you to our annual GRANDPARENTS’ DAY on May 14, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.  You do not have to be a grandparent to a child in the Chatham School to attend Grandparents’ Day, we encourage everyone to come and join us for a fun-filled morning.  The High School will lead you in morning devotions, tour the classrooms and school grounds, listen to a program featuring elementary students and then enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by the Home and School Committee.  Students and staff anxiously wait for your arrival on that Monday morning. 

Baby Bottle Boomerang:  We will be distributing baby bottles on Mother’s Day.  Just fill the bottles with change, bills, and cheques and return it for collection on Father’s Day.  All funds go directly to the REFUGE division of Right to Life Kent (RTLK) and will be used for practical pregnancy support in the Chatham-Kent region.  Thank you for supporting babies and their mothers!  Your support will SAVE and CHANGE lives!  If you have any questions, please feel free to call the RTLK office at 519-352-3611. 

REQUESTED ANNOUNCEMENTS

SARNIA YOUTH SERVICE:  All youth groups in our classis are invited to First CRC in Sarnia on May 13 for a time to worship together, to pray together, and to hear God's word together!  The service starts at 6:30pm, and there will be plenty of food after the service for everyone.  Come join us!

March for Life 2012- Abortion Hurts Everyone.  March for Life will be held Thursday May 10th, 2012.  Departing Chatham: 11:30 p.m. ( May 9  ) Buses will leave from Grace Christian Reformed Church parking lot located at 255 Tweedsmuir Ave. W.  Arriving Ottawa approximately 7:30 a.m. (May 10).  Departing Ottawa: 4:30 p.m. Sharp (May 10).
