Blenheim CRC mourns the passing of Rev. Gerrit, who has served our
congregation longer than any other pastor. We extend our condolences to
Roland, John, Paul, and Laura; and their extended families as they grieve
but remember him fondly. We are thankful to God for his many years of service,
over 9 years in Blenheim alone, and are grateful that he is in the Father's
care. A memorial service will be held at the Cephas Christian Reformed Church
in Peterborough on Monday May 21 at 2:00 pm with visitation to follow from 3:00
till 5:00. Those wishing to commemorate Pastor Gerrit can do so by making
donations to Rhema Christian School.
We also continue our prayers for Ruby who continues her recovery at
home.
CALVARY CHURCH: John has been feeling weaker in the last little while. We are praying for daily measures of strength and energy for John, but also God's nearness and comfort for Rita and the family. COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS
On May 25th 2012 Joe and Henny hope to celebrate their 50th Wedding anniversary. You are invited to the open house at Smitty’s Restaurant in the Aristo room on Saturday, May 26th from 2-4 pm.
HOME MADE PIZZA AND MOVIE: You are Invited . . . to come for a free viewing of the stirring and powerful movie “Courageous.” From the makers of “Fireproof” comes another movie that hits close to home. “Courageous”: Four men, one calling: To Serve and Protect. As law enforcement officers, they are confident and focused, standing up to the worst the streets can offer. Yet when they take off their badges at the end of the day, they face a challenge that none of them are truly prepared to tackle: fatherhood. When tragedy strikes close to home and these men are wrestling with their hopes, their fears, their faith, and their fathering, they begin to see the truly courageous call that God has given in His plan for raising children. Blenheim CRC is showing this movie on June 3 at 5:00 p.m. Courageous is rated PG and the running time of the movie is approximately 129 minutes. Feel free to bring your children.
