SENIOR HOME MINISTRY:

Ø There is a worship service today at MeadowPark Home (110 Sandys St.) at 2:30pm.  The family asked to attend is Derk & Annette.

Ø There is a worship service Friday at Residence-on-the-Thames at 10am.

MORNING OFFERINGS:

Sunday May 20, 2012 – Bethseda Centre: The Bethseda Centre offers accommodation, counselling and support of young mothers during their pregnancy and after the birth of their babies.  At Bethseda, the expecting mothers live in a supportive and positive residential environment where they are able to continue their education while also learning how to care for and nurture their babies.

 Sunday May 27, 2012 – CRWM: Christian Reformed World Missions is a missions agency that helps CRC congregations to fulfill the great commission.  CRWM partners with nearly 1100 CRC congregations in North America.  Their goal is to proclaim the gospel, promote healthy churches, and do their part in advancing God’s kingdom.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

 It's time to get together for FUN, FOOD and FELLOWSHIP! The "Social Events Committee" invites you to join us right after the morning service on June 3 to share a meal, play some games and enjoy each other's company. Bring a lawn chair and/or a blanket.  Please sign up in the narthex to let us know you’re coming so that we can order enough food for everyone. Hope you can make it!  Go District #1!

SOMETHING2SHARE: COMMUNITY PROJECTS:

THE ANNUAL SPRING BIKE SAFETY RODEO is happening this Saturday, May 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  If you haven’t already signed up, it’s not too late. 

 1.       We still need volunteers to help with face painting and safety checks! 

 2.        Volunteers who signed up to deliver the fliers, please pick up a packet TODAY from the table in the foyer.  NOTE:  Deliver at your convenience but no later than Wednesday, May 23.  Each packet will include a map, street name to be done and the number of mailboxes on that street.  Only do the street on your packet.  Feel free to take more than one packet. 

 3.       Baked goodies may be dropped off at the church on Friday during its regular “Business Hours” or at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

 4.       All VOLUNTEERS please meet at the Church this Saturday at 9 a.m. to help set up.  

5.       We ask the congregation to pray for good weather, a great turnout and fun fellowship with the people in our neighbourhood!

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY STUDENTS: This morning in your mail slots you will find a form you need to fill out to let us know where you are going to school in the fall and for what.  If you are not returning to school please let us know that as well.  For those who did not receive a form (whether young or older) please pick one up on the table in the narthex and fill it in.  All forms need to go to Rachel by Sunday June 17.  Please also submit a grad photo or other appropriate photo of yourself which will be returned to you.  Thank you.

 

MAIL SLOTS: If you have been worshipping with us as a guest and would like to have a mail slot to receive correspondence from our church please phone or send an e-mail to the church office and let us know.  We’d love to set that up for you!

  

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

 VBS MEETING:

The Outreach committee would like to meet with all the VBS shop keepers, group leaders, and song leaders for a short meeting on Monday, June 11 at 7:30 pm.   During this Monday night meeting, we will be going over some details. 

 We will be handing out the materials to the shop keepers on June 10 (Sunday) after the morning service, in the council room. 

 LIBRARY NEWS:  In the aftermath of a massive LA earthquake, the perfect existence of Teal Morgan-Adams begins to crumble.  Sally John with wit and wisdom, delivers a touching story about life’s unexpected detours and the courage it takes to erase the lies that can echo in our hearts.  Pick up her book “Heart’s Echoes”.

 UPDATE from COUNCIL:

The membership of Melvin and Kiny has been transferred to the Westmount CRC in Strathroy.  Their new address is Trillium Village C204-600 Saulsbury St. Strathroy, 07G 9A8 – tel 519-205-0377.  We wish them God’s blessing in their new community.

The membership of Ken has been transferred to Calvary CRC in Chatham. We wish him and his family God’s blessing at Calvary CRC.


 

 

YOUNG ADULTS:

Back from University or College?  Come join the Young Adults group!  We are meeting this Tuesday at Pastor Jake's starting at 7:30.  All young adults aged 19ish-to-30something are invited to join one of the following discussion groups:  Group 1 will be reading The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis.  Group A will be reading Crazy Love by Francis Chan.

YOUTH GROUP:

This Week:  All Ontario Youth Convention.

Next Week: Join us for a discussion on Prayer and a prayer labyrinth, followed by refreshments and games.

We are falling behind in our commitment to support our sponsor child, Kimberley.  Please bring a loonie, toonie or $5 to Youth Group.

 

JUNIOR YOUTH:

Saturday, (not Friday) May 26.  Join us at Pastor Jake's from 5-9pm for a BBQ, camp fire, capture the flag, bocce ball, and more for our last Junior Youth event of the year.  Bring a lawn chair and a snack or bottle of pop to share. One or two parents are needed to help for the night.  Talk to Pastor Jake if you can help.

 

New Members/Profession of Faith Class:  Interested in learning more about the beliefs and teaching of Grace CRC and the denomination of the Christian Reformed Church? Want to know more about becoming a member of Grace CRC? Are you considering making a public profession of your faith?  Pastor William and Pastor Jake invite you to join us for a six week class starting the beginning of June.  Together we will explore what it means to be Reformed and why it matters.  Please contact Pastor Jake if you are interested in attending.
