PRAYER LIST

TO ALL CHURCHES: I just want to take some time to thank everyone for all of their thoughts and prayers. I have been doing very well and the surgery was a success! It has been almost 9 months since my last seizure! Praise the Lord!! I am still decreasing my medication, but I feel great.   "The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song." Psalm 28:7 In Christ, Michelle - "I can do everything through him who gives me strength" Philippians 4:13

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS

ADULT EDUCATION: Pastor Jack will be leading a six-week adult education class on the book of Philippians, beginning Tuesday September 13 @ 8 pm. Focus will be on experiencing the joy of the Lord. All are welcome!

PIG ROAST AND PIE AUCTION: NeighbourLink is hosting the second annual pig roast and pie auction on Saturday, September 10.  Dinner is at 5:30 at St. Paul's Congregational Church.  You can order your tickets from Marvin Zondervan, Myrna Panjer, or Jack Leistra.  Seating is limited, so please call early. 

CHATHAM-KENT CHRISTIAN MEN’S CHOIR: Our first practice will be Tuesday September 6th at 7:30 pm at First Reformed Church -the corner of Lacroix and Indian Creek Rd. We are looking forward to a new season with our new director and offering an invitation for more men to join us - all voices are welcome! An other highlight for this year will be hosting the Eastern Ontario Festival of Praise in April.  If you have any questions please contact Melvin Van Lingen, the choir secretary, @ 519-352-2420 or 519-899-4126. 

WE WERE ALL CREATED TO MAKE A DIFFERNCE. MAX LUCADO EXPLAINS IN OUTLIVE YOUR LIFE:  Originally a simulcast event and recently released on DVD the event includes 4 sessions with Max Lucado, Jenna Lucado, his daughter, and Worship Leader Travis Cotrell.  Join us as we learn from and are inspired by these popular Christian leaders on September 17 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Grace Christian Reformed Church, 255 Tweedsmuir Ave. W. in Chatham.  Registration and refreshments at 8:30 a.m.  Light lunch included in $6/person cost.  Please pre-register by calling Theresa @519-351-1478 before September 12.

THE CHATHAM AFTER 5 CHRISTIAN WOMESN’S 45TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION DINNER: will feature Celeste Zugec singing music through the decades as well as speaking about “something old is new” on Tuesday, September 13 at 6:30pm at the Country View Golf Course.  Cost is $13.  Call Gwen 519-352-6693 or Joyce 519-354-1757 for reservations. 

Fridays @ Grace: is looking for some people that would like to help out with crafts, games and story telling. You do not have to come up with craft ideas just help the kids put them together. The games is fun time in the gym and supervising the kids. Story telling is with kids grades 3-5 you just have to come up with a message about 15min long. We meet Fridays at 6:00 the program runs from 6:30-7:30pm. It is really awesome watching kids run into the church excited to be there. If you would like to be a part of this really fun night please contact Greg & Carrie Nydam 519-436-0747. 

REQUESTED ANNOUNCEMENTS

DUTCH HYMN SING: The sixth annual Dutch Hymn Sing is planned for Wednesday 1:30 p.m. August 31st in the Westmount Christian Reformed Church, 405 Drury Lane Strathroy. If you love the hymns and psalms that you learned in your youth and still treasure in your heart, please come and join others in singing praise to God in the Dutch language. Please spread the word! Everyone is welcome! Refreshments and fellowship will follow the program.

REVEREND MIEDEMA’S INSTALLATION SERVICE: will be held on September 11, 2011 at 10am at Aylmer CRC.  Everyone is invited to attend.

·         CALVIN COLLEGE - Presidential Search - The Board of Trustees of Calvin College invites nominations and expressions of interest for the position of president. ·         CRC CAMPUS MINISTRIES: Coming to U of Waterloo in the Fall? If you are a new or returning university or college student coming to the Waterloo area, please join us at Waterloo CRC on Sept. 11 for Student Welcome Sunday. You, your parents and your friends are welcome to join us for lunch after the service. Get to know the people in our church, our pastor, and our Campus Minister, Brian Bork. The service will be held at Waterloo CRC, 209 Bearinger Avenue in Waterloo at 10:30 am. We hope to see you there! 

·         MAKE A DIFFERENCE - Registration is now open for Road2Hope 2011 – a walk/run of hope for EduDeo Ministries (formerly Worldwide Christian Schools-Canada). Register before September 1st to qualify for the early bird discount! For more details and to register, go to www.edudeo.com/r2h. 

·         CRWRC East Africa Drought Response: - CRWRC has received approval for a new CFGB food assistance project in Somalia which will assist displaced people and their host families. Projects in Kenya and Ethiopia are well underway. CRWRC is now assisting a total of 20,000 families there until December. CIDA will match (1:1) private donations received by Sept. 16, and CRWRC is eligible to apply to this fund. CRWRC is guaranteed a 4:1 CIDA match for the CFGB food aid portion. ·         CRWRC East Africa Drought Response: - CRWRC has received approval for a new food assistance project in Somalia which will assist 10,800 internally displaced people and their host families. CRWRC’s projects in Kenya and Ethiopia are well underway. CRWRC is now assisting a total of 20,000 families (145,000 people) in East Africa until December with a $9 million response. ·         CRWRC - Disaster Response Services is working closely with Trinity CRC in Goderich, with local officials, and with disaster response partners to bring immediate relief to those affected by Sunday's tornado in Goderich, and to plan for longer term recovery.
