PRAYER LIST

FIRST CHURCH:  Please pray for 3 year old Benjamin, son of Gerry and Christine, as he undergoes kidney surgery at the Children's Hospital in London this week Friday, September 23, 2011. Pray that the surgery will be successful and for speedy recovery and healing.  Hillie is out of intensive care but remains in the surgical ward for monitoring and recuperation.  Mina fell last week but is doing much better and is convalescing at home.  Remember our sick and shut-ins, and all who are unable to join is in worship.  Happy birthday to Mr. Andrew who is turning 83 and Mr. Mike who is turning 85 both on the 22nd, and to Mr. Hilbert who is turning 72 on the 24th.  Have a blessed day! 

CALVARY CHURCH:  We are praying for our missionaries Bill and Diana as they are home from their mission and dealing with some visa issues. This weekend upcoming we will celebrate with Steve and Rae-Anne the occasion of their marriage ceremony.  

GRACE CHURCH:  We offer our condolences once again to the extended family of the Boersema’s with the passing away of Margaret, wife to Eppe, who passed away a week earlier.  We pray that God may bring comfort to Elco & Tina and their family as they mourn this second time.  May they be surrounded with His love and nearness.   Art remains in hospital after his stroke but he is making gradual progress and is encouraged each day with his recovery.  Jon & Jami have moved temporarily to ThunderBay for work related reasons and will remain there until next year.  They are anticipating the birth of their second child sometime in mid October.  We pray that all may go well with them during this time.  If you would like to send them a card of encouragement or when the baby comes a card of congratulations, send it to their address in Tilbury and all their mail will be forwarded to them in ThunderBay.  This upcoming Saturday (September 24) Steven is getting married to Rae-Anne here at Grace Church.  We wish them God’s blessings!  Gerard and Cecilia wish to thank everyone for the well wishes and cards for their 50th Wedding Anniversary.

BLENHEIM CHURCH:  We pray for Cor and Johanna, as Cor had a procedure on Thursday to help drain his lung before starting radiation treatment.  We also continue to pray for Jody Palmer and family as she continues to have back pain.  We continue to remember Margaret, Mike, Effie, Ann, and others.

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Friday's @ Grace is starting on Sept. 23--this Friday.  Along with a program for kids we are continuing the video series.  To start off the year we watching Rick Warren's video called Better Together.  He will show you how God planned for you to fulfill his purposes in community with other people...in your church family...in your small group....in the world around you.  Join us on Friday nights at 6:30 in the church sanctuary.  If you have any questions, please call Alice VanStempvoort at 519-436-0775. 

BIRTHDAY CALENDARS:  It is time to update the School Birthday calendar.  Please call in any changes that were not on the bulletin common insert to Betty Schiestel at 354-3794 or email:  bettyschiestel@yahoo.com.   Calendars will remain at 5.00 and one will be ordered for you if you were on the list last year.  Cancellations MUST be called in prior to printing.  New orders are always welcome!

 Plan to come to an exciting "Fall into Winter" Fundraiser Open House Event on Saturday, October 15, from 10 am till 12 noon at Jackie Bultje's house (9538 Gregory Line) to help raise funds for Kadee and Brenda Lankhof's 2nd Mission Trip to Haiti. Shop for great Christmas gifts for everyone with Epicure Fall/Winter items and sample several new products. A CCS Women's Prayer Group will have their first meeting at the school on Tuesday, October 4, 2011. We will meet in the High School lounge at 9:00am and then move to a classroom to pray for about 1 hour. All women are welcome; Moms, Grandmas and all female friends of Chatham Christian Schools. Grace CRC Cadets: Season start Monday, Sept 26 at 7pm.  Ages 7 to 16 welcome.  Please call Ken Nydam at 519 355-8322 if you have any questions. 

Pastor Jack will be leading a six-week adult education class on the book of Philippians; we will continue this Tuesday September 20 @ 8 pm.  Outlines provided.  All are welcome! 

Calvary Ladies Coffee Break - Attention all past members and new want-to-be's. We will begin our 2011-2012 season on Wednesday September 21st with a morning of fellowship, fun and laughter. Come and enjoy a coffee while we catch up with one another and hear a short introduction to the study material "1 Samuel". Lesson books will also be available that morning. Grace Coffee Break invites you to Park Day on Wednesday, September 21!   Come join us at Kingston Park from 10 – noon.  Kingston Park is located at 25 Paxton Dr. (just off St. Clair Ave.) and now offers lots of play areas, walking paths, etc.  This is our last park day of the fall!  Please bring sunscreen, a lawn chair and coffee/snacks.  Questions?  Please e-mail Kathy DeKoter at kathy@dekoter.name.

It’s time for the Coffee Break kick-off evening – and it will be happening this Wednesday night, Sept. 21!   Come learn what Coffee Break is about and enjoy an evening of fun…we’ll be playing two rounds of Bunco  and hearing about the Bible Studies offered for this year’s Coffee Break season at Grace.  7 - 9 p.m. at Grace CRC.  Please R.S.V.P. to Kathy DeKoter at 519-354-7551 or kathy@dekoter.name by Tues., Sept. 20.

The Coffee Break season is almost underway at Grace CRC.  Coffee Break is a welcoming place for women to get to know Jesus in a personal and relevant way.  The season starts on Wednesday, Sept. 28.  Morning Coffee Break is from 9:45 – 11 a.m. and Evening is from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.   Coffee Break meets at Grace CRC.  Studies this year include Essentials of Parenting, The Tabernacle, Discover Romans 2 and Discover The Parables of Jesus (evening).   If you are new to Coffee Break, please check out www.chathamgrace.com and click on Adult Programs to learn more or call Kathy DeKoter at 519-354-7551.

The Christian Counselling Centre invites you to join us for a training conference on depression on November 18 & 19, 2011.  Our speaker will be Ed Welch (CCEF). At the Ancaster Canadian Reformed Church on Friday evening beginning at 7:30pm and Saturday morning, beginning at 9:00 am. The cost is $30 per person after Sept. 15.  Youth Service: Aylmer CRC will be hosting a Youth Service on Sunday, October 2 at 5:00pm. The speaker will be Derrick Drover, a speaker, musician, and singer/songwriter. Born and raised in Newfoundland, Derrick has a unique blend of provoking thought and humour as he challenges young and old alike in their walk with God. His message will be based on the story of “Doubting Thomas”. Come, worship with the whole family, and then join us for soup and buns in the school gym afterwards.
