UPCOMING LORD’S SUPPER SERVICES:
We are celebrating Lord’s Supper Sunday November 20 in the pm worship service.
GRACE CHURCH VISION STATEMENT: As disciples of Christ our purpose is to encourage spiritual growth in ourselves, our family, and our church family so that we will be the presence of Christ to all the world around us in all we say and do.
Thought for the week: “Be more concerned about God’s opinion than about what others will think.”
MORNING OFFERINGS:
October 30, 2011 – Home Missions: Christian Reformed Home Missions follows Gods lead in the movement of the Gospel in North America. Their goal is to give leadership to the CRC in its task of bringing the gospel to the people in Canada and the United States. Working through regional teams, Home Missions supports a diverse group of church planters, pastors, campus ministries and others who are called to renew communities together.
November 7, 2011 – CRWRC World Hunger:
SENIOR HOME MINISTRY:
There is a worship service today at Copper Terrace (91 Tecumseh St.) at 2:30pm. The family asked to attend is Tina & Cora.
Jesus tells us to love one another, as taught in Matthew 22. In Acts 2 we also see the example of the believers caring for each other. These are models for us to use with our church today as well. We are God’s family and we want to support and care for each other. That’s why it is so important that you talk to your elder, deacon, pastoral care worker, pastor, or Council Executive if there is something that you are burdened with. These burdens can be physical or spiritual, or maybe other needs. This way, we as a church family can support you and surround you with love and prayer as you work through these situations. Whether it’s concerns and frustrations or celebrations and joyful moments, we urge you to let us know.
Please have all bulletin items in by Wednesday 7pm. Office Hrs: Tues –Fri 9am–noon
PRAYER MINISTRY:
· Please come Sunday mornings at 9am and join in prayer for our church and community. We meet in Room #2 (in the lower level)
· Join us for prayer following the worship services in the room at the back of the sanctuary. All requests remain confidential.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
NOTE FROM COUNCIL: Last Sunday, the nine month statement was put in each mailbox in the narthex. This gives each individual an opportunity to take a look at the amount given for the first nine-months of this year. It’s a good time to reflect on what we have done for the work of the Lord in this congregation. Last fall as a congregation we accepted a budget, and to-date we are behind in our giving. Please take a look at what you’ve done to meet this budget for the year. Please give as God has blessed you.
REMINDER: Next Sunday is the 1st Sunday of the month – do you know what this means? You’re right – CADET POP CAN FUNDRAISER SUNDAY. Please bring your pop cans to the church Sunday morning and we will have Cadets on hand to help you.
LOST AND FOUND: The amount of stuff in the lost and found box is increasing with stuff that is lost. If it is not found or claimed by next Sunday (November 6) we will be bringing it to the Thrift store. Thank you – The Custodian
FOOD DONATIONS NEEDED: It is important to give food to the poor in our community not only on special holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, but throughout the year. We would like to encourage each of you to bring non-perishable food items to the church each month. There is a bin underneath the mail slots that we would like to fill up each month and bring to one of the local food banks: Salvation Army, Outreach for Hunger, and Praise Fellowship. Please help us by bringing non-perishable food items to the church this upcoming Sunday. Let’s make a difference in the lives of those around us!
BOOKS AND TOYS FOR THE NURSERY: Grace church nursery is looking for 'gently used' board books (the thick and durable cardboard books) and toys for children ages 6 months to 3 years. If you have any books and toys that are in good condition that you are looking to donate, please consider donating them to our nursery. Please bring your donations down to the nursery any Sunday morning. Thank you so much for sharing, our little ones appreciate it!
SENIOR’S GAME NIGHT: The Youth Group invites all our grandparents and senior friends to a games night on Sunday, November 6. Starting after the evening service we will provide a light dinner (meat and cheese buns). Then let the games begin... Euchre, Wii Bowling, and Shuffle Board. If you have a shuffle board we can borrow for the night please talk to Pastor Jake.
LIBRARY NEWS: “A Killer Among Us” by Lynette Eason is the third book of the Women of Justice series. These are stand alone novels are nail-biting suspense, clever plot twists, and a hint of romance. Kit and Noah are on the hunt for a serial killer. The problem is, he may be hunting one of them too.
A BIG THANK YOU from the Library Committee to Cadet counsellor Jack Koopman and the Voyageur Cadre for the great work you did on rearranging our display shelf so that we have more room for recently added books. As everyone goes to that shelf first to check for new books, it is very much appreciated to have the extra space.
CRWRC VISIT - THANK YOU: CRWRC would like to extend our thanks to your church for hosting Istifanus Gimba during his recent visit to your congregation. CRWRC overseas staff often works in challenging environments and your support through prayers, encouragement, and financial gifts enable CRWRC to make a greater impact in transforming communities around the world. Thank you!
TUESDAY NIGHT: We continue our study of the Alpha video series at Pastor Jake's home on Tuesday night at 7:30pm.
Please make sure you have completed the waiver/registration form prior to attending Youth Events. Completed forms can be given to Pastor Jake or placed in his church mailbox.
TONIGHT: We will continue our series "Never Too Young" with a discussion of the young king Josiah (2 Chronicles 34-35). At just 16 years of age Josiah was dedicated to seeking God in a world that rejected Him... Come hear his story and what it says to young people today!
SNACKS: Some of you have suggested that you would like to bring baked goodies for snacks to Youth Nights. If you would like to treat us to your baked goods we would love to eat them! Just bring them with Sunday evening.
SATURDAY: Bruce Trail Hike. Call Pastor Jake or Jeff Bultje if you would like to come. Parents check your email and youth check out our Facebook page for more details.
NEXT WEEK: Senior's Game Night - don't forget to personally invite a grandparent or senior friend. Join us for the evening service, and stay for a light dinner (meat and cheese buns) and games afterwards. We still need a couple shuffle boards, a Wii system with Wii Sports and six wii controllers. Let Pastor Jake know if you have any wii can borrow. The games evening will wrap up around 8:30pm.
