ANNOUNCEMENTS:
LOOKING FOR A CURE TO THE WINTER BLUES?!! The Social Events Committee has just the thing: We are planning a Potluck Dinner and Games Night for Saturday February 25th starting at 5pm at the Christian School on Keil Drive. Check your mail slots for more information on the blue sheet! See you there!
FLOWER MINISTRY: The next schedule for donating flowers to the church is on the table in the Narthex. We are asking for people to donate a bouquet of flowers each week (only one vase) and they will be placed on the organ. Following the worship service this bouquet of flowers will be taken, by our elders & pastoral care workers, to someone in the congregation who is house bound, sick, or dealing with difficult circumstances. If you would like to participate in this ministry, please sign up in the narthex to donate a bouquet of flowers for a specific Sunday. Your job in this would be to purchase the flowers with a vase (there are extras in the Council room) and place them on the organ before church that Sunday morning.
LIBRARY NEWS: Trevor’s need to guard and protect prompts his decision to become a search and rescue volunteer. Natalie’s gift of sculpting comes from an unusual disability that seeks release through her creative hands. In each other they see strength and courage as they face a perplexing foe in the novel “Indelible” by Kristen Heitzmann.
COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSONS: are requested to ensure that all expenses for 2011 are submitted to the treasurer by January 31st, 2012 so that the books for 2011 can be closed in a timely manner.
REMINDER: Next Sunday is the 1st Sunday of the month – do you know what this means? You’re right – CADET POP CAN FUNDRAISER SUNDAY. Please bring your pop cans to the church Sunday morning and we will have Cadets on hand to help you.
FOOD DONATIONS NEEDED: It is important to give food to the poor in our community not only on special holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, but throughout the year. We would like to encourage each of you to bring non-perishable food items to the church each month. There is a bin underneath the mail slots that we would like to fill up each month and bring to one of the local food banks: Salvation Army, Outreach for Hunger, and Praise Fellowship. Please help us by bringing non-perishable food items to the church this upcoming Sunday. Let’s make a difference in the lives of those around us!
SCHOOL AND DENTAL SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR LIMA, PERU: Rebecca is going on a mission trip to Lima, Peru in May and needs donations of school and dental supplies to bring with her. These supplies will be given to children in underdeveloped schools, as well as helping to teach and promote an ongoing oral hygiene campaign. Suggested supplies include pencils, pencil crayons, crayons, paper (construction or plain), erasers, pencil sharpeners, notebooks, highlighters, glue, scissor, rulers, colouring books, essentially anything you would send with your child to school, as well as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss. Each member partaking in this volunteer experience is asked to bring a suitcase full of supplies, therefore a suitcase will be place in the narthex for supplies to be dropped off to. Thank-you in advance for all your help and donations. – Rebecca
